ROCKSTAR SUPERSTAR PROJECT is rockin’ it out to rebrand sobriety while promoting responsible choices and dream catching!
A new national study was released in April 2011 by The Partnership at Drugfree.org and MetLife Foundation concluding that “teen drug and alcohol use is headed in the wrong direction, with marked increases in teen use of marijuana and Ecstasy over the past three years.” Additional data from this study indicates that almost half of the teens surveyed see little risk in heavy drinking and parents don’t know what to do about it. The research trends on marijuana and Ecstasy use with teens is also substantiated by findings from the Monitoring the Future Survey released in December 2010 by NIDA. Some of the information suggests that with budget cuts affecting drug prevention programs the message isn’t getting out to youth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. This information along with the increase of synthetic drugs like bath salts and K2 - Spice we at RSSS believe that the time is NOW to start having more crucial conversations with teens and parents about substance use.
Super Star will be bringing his message back to his hometown area presenting to schools locally the week of May 16th. RSSS is hosting a community event that is open to the public on Monday, May 16th at 7PM at the Marion Jr. Sr. High School on Warner Road in Marion. Come on out and show your support for our cause!
