Any writing or book related New Year resolutions for 2010?

I would love to promise myself more reading and writing time in 2010. I am not good at keeping resolutions and know I will have to make them more solid than that if I'm ever going to keep them! What will your own resolutions be? We could help each other stick to them. :)

Same here! I wanna finish another short story and finish readin the pile of started and unfinished unread books I have.
I've never really made resolutions. I didn't even know what the heck they were until I read one of the diary of a wimpy kid books. But now that I think about that, I should. One of my New Years Resolutions will be to finish one of my latest books. It's really good so far, or at least I think, but I'm not that far. I know the ending, but I have no idea what the rest of it should be. I know one of the characters, Amy Ensual, (yeah, I know, stupid last name) but I don't know how. I do know that another character, Laura Lee, is the last one to live, and the last scene happens right before she dies. It's a diary book, and I know you've probably only read diary books that only show you the main character's thoughts and feelings, but this book shows THREE character's thoughts and feelings. It's got three different diaries in it, and one of the characters, Emily Careena, (yeah, another stupid last name) is already dead, and there's a HUGE twist involving her and Amy. It's really cool. I can't wait to show it to everyone here on Authors.com!
I can't leave a book unfinished once I start, even if they are rubbish. So how will you girls get on and stay on track?

I have no idea. Every time I tell myself I'll do something, I end up regretting it later, telling myself, "I would have ended up better if I hadn't done that." I'll try, but I don't think I'll succeed.

Callie, what's missing is positivity. If you tell yourself before you even begin that you'll not succeed, you're setting yourself up for failure. Goals have to be realistic and achievable. When they are not, you'll never do it and will only feel worse than if you had never tried at all. Don't give up completely on trying things! Change your approach.

Plan to do the task in small incremental steps. Make it ridiculously easy to achieve them at the beginning and toughen them up as you go along. Ten minutes today, fifteen tomorrow, twenty the next day and so on. When you see progress, you'll want to keep at it.

Dang....Um, for all of you who dont really know me, Im a new years baby.Funny I know.. lol Born on newyears eve. 2 minutes to new years day. My main Resolution is based on my book.
Iwould love to finish my trilogy throughout next year...But I also writing a Novel based off of it as well..so yeah..a lot f work since all my books are around 600 pages.. MY third is about Im gonna guess ....800? From the rate Im going..
Really? I've always wanted to write a long novel, but I can never come up with enough feed for the story. I know if I put down every thought I made, it'd be about a thousand pages, but it'd get boring.

Don't forget about the yWriter novel writing software that's in the Writing Resources Group. I think items get overlooked there in the Groups. It's a free resource.

I should make that my resolution! To make sure I don't miss any Group posts because there's some gems there.

My friend's birthday was Christmas Day. She hated that and always felt it was overlooked somewhat because of that. We made a point of celebrating the week before so there was still a special day. She's like the Queen and has two birthdays, one official and one unofficial LOL. :)

Have you set aside a schedule to do that, Betty? That's a big challenge.
