I don't know all the legalities or anything, but I will say that I have found nothing but friendship and support since I've been here. Post your writings and you will get helpful feedback and some really great advice! That's certainly what I've found anyway.

If you don't want to post your own work until you get settled in, join us in some of our little debates in the forum!!

I was scared to put my stuff too, but all I got was helpful feedback!
You could put little stuff at a time if you like,but if you dont want to you dont have to!

Well, here's the thing.

If you post it here, it'll be timestamped. If someone steals your work, then you can easily say "You're plagiarizing my work, and [url]here[/url] is the proof."

The only way to protect your work completely is to not use it. But that's no fun now, is it?

Nobody's going to steal your stuff, don't worry. The minute you put that piece of writing out there and it's on paper or some other kind of fixed medium, it's copyrighted. Read up on copyright law. You don't even need the © symbol anymore. You cannot however copyright an idea because everybody can have ideas.

In fact, some editors look for that as a reason to reject a submission because it tells them they're dealing with an amateur.

If you don't want to share it, you don't have to. It's not a requirement of membership or anything LOL. :) But look around the blogs here and you'll see how many times others have done so and not worried about it. Look at my own blog here even. I have a few poems of mine on that and a short story. I don't lose any sleep over them being there, and I'm published.

If you never show your stuff you can't get help with it and if you don't take the opportunity to get constructive feedback, you could send it to a publisher when it's less than its best. Is it not better to hear that here and have time to correct anything and perfect it before you send it out? I think it is. :)

Are you kidding? Everyone on this site is trustworthy. Everyone posts their works on here. Come on, besides, we all love reading. And you don't have to post all of the story anyway. I've posted a couple of stories on here too!

I wonder if there's a theory that some people can write detailed murder scenes because they found out where a plagiarist lives.
