Is it right to get revenge on someone through your career? I mean only if they really deserve it. I was writing another book, and in the second chapter I mocked this guy that goes to my school. But I had a really good reason too! One day, I was mad at him because he had made fun of my friends, so he said, "Come on. Aren't you going to forgive me? Jesus would forgive me. Aren't you into that CRAP!" I wanted to hit him. Then he tried to deny he ever said it. I forget why, but somehow he understood that I hate him and today I had on my new earrings that are bells that actually jingle, and I showed them to my friend, Tori, and he went around saying, "Callie is a reindeer! Callie is a reindeer!" It was so weird. And I know he does ballet, and he said if I tell anyone, he'll tell everyone I'm a lesbian. At first I was mad, but then I realized, everybody hates him. I'm not joking. Everyone I've ever talked to has said they hate him. Which obviously means no one will listen to him. Anyway, is it right to take revenge on him this way? I mean, before I show anyone, I'd change the name, but it is right to get over my anger this way?

I think it is. I often do it alot but I change the name. Besides, no one can tell you what not to write. If you want to write about someone in your story, I say go ahead!
We all use our life experiences when we write. Only you can decide what kind of spin to put on the words.

The boy obviously has issues. Could you not try be nice to him Callie and ignore the name calling? I forget sometimes how young you are because you're mature in other ways. But you need to learn not to rise to the bait. When you don't react the way he expects you to, he'll get fed up with it.

There's a quote by Abraham Lincoln that goes "I don't like that man. I must get to know him better." I bet he knows everyone hates him. That must be very lonely. I think he's trying to get attention and doesn't know how to without stirring things up. Being ignored is horrible.

This is my suggestion. Stay calm and next time say something like I'd rather be your friend than your enemy. Only if you can find it in your heart to give him that chance and mean it. You're too young to be thinking about revenge and such negative emotions, Callie. Take the higher road here. If it doesn't work, then you've tried. Tis the season of giving after all. :)
I know. I want to be nice to him, but I can't. I tried being friends with him once, and he told my friend Cassandra (from The Vampires Girlfriend) that her parents should be locked up, and called my friend Kendra (also from The Vampires Girlfriend) fat like six hundred times. I don't feel good about hating him, but I can't help it. Even when he did all that stuff, I still defended him, but he knew I was mad and he ended up saying, "Come one. Aren't you going to forgive me? Jesus would forgive me. Aren't you into that Christian CRAP!" The worst part about it is, HE'S GOT THE NERVE TO CALL HIMSELF A CHRISTIAN! When I told him how much it hurt me, he just laughed and said I was overreacting. He's the most insensitive, annoying, heartless, cruel person on the planet and he takes pride in that. We had to recite a poem in Language Arts class, and my teacher made it very clear not to write one, but he did anyway and got away with it. The worst part was what it was about. He wrote it about a wolf eating a lamb. And even though it was great and very discriptive, it was a little too discriptive. He loves being the one everyone hates because he thinks it's cool. The worst part about him is what he does. Every day he tries to act like he's sexy and he knows that everyone knows he's not. He's a persistant jerk who doesn't care aobut anyone elses feeling. He thinks that he's the only one who matters!

I'm sorry for dumping that all on you. I just needed to get my anger out. I know you're right, but I've tried being his friend, and I can't take it. I'm sorry for saying all of that.

No problem, you're not dumping on me.

You tried and that's good. I don't think you can do much more apart from be non-reactive then. Though I think deep down he does want to, just doesn't know how to. I would guess that if his teacher "let him away with it" in your eyes that there are other issues here the teacher is aware of that are confidential, such as a learning disability or challenge like ADD. Teachers don't just let students away with things. They do however make judgment calls and it can be hard for students to watch that. You don't know how this is being dealt with behind closed doors is what I'm saying. The privacy of the individual is taken seriously by schools.

Here's something to think about: could he be the lamb in his poem, feeling eaten up by something he can't control? He may realize how awful his behavior is and be unable to help it. As I said, we all use our life experiences when we write. He may even be on meds they are trying to regulate.

He'll move on to others when you all stop rising to the bait. I sincerely hope the school and his family gets him the help he needs too. I feel sorry for him actually.

But what do I know. :) You do what works for you, Callie.

Callie, I was thinking about you and this thread, kiddo. How are you feeling about this now? You don't ever have to worry about dumping on me, honestly. I'll always happy to listen. :)

(If you can still edit your original post, you could fix the title. The spelling is "literature".)
I feel even worse now! He sent me another friend request on facebook (which I would love to be your friend on if you have one) and he sent me a message asking for a suggestion for my friend Kendra who doens't like him either, but has taken to humoring him. I replied saying never because Kendra doesn't need to associate with people like him, and I told him I'd never accept his friend request after everything he's said to me, so he replied saying I was acting like a female dog!! If you get my point, I was never raised to say swear words and I still don't say them, so you can imagine my point of view. I reported him, and he sent me ANOTHER request from ANOTHER account, and he said, "Don't try to block me, Callie. I make millions of these and I'll never leave you alone. Mwa ha ha ha! And I'm also a very good liar, but I'm sure you've figured that out." He's the most annoying person on the planet!!! His other account was named Brandon Pohlsandernumber two. He's dumb too. I just wish he's spare one thought for my feelings!!! If you check out the disscussion feedback, you'll find his name in chapter two. (Thanks for listening, it's nice to have someone who listens to you. And I know I spelled it wrong. I was to upset with Brandon to care.)

Oh dear. I hate to say this. Reasoning with him doesn't work and asking him not to doesn't work either, so best to go back to the original tactic of ignoring him. All you can do is report the second handle too.

I hardly know how to sign into my Facebook account Callie so don't expect much! I've not taken the time to learn it properly. This is it. Maybe the others here can help you out on how to block him better via your settings. Andrew might be able to help you. I know he uses FB. Isn't there a way to set it so only already approved friends can read your posts and contact you? That lad's silly to continue because he'll end up getting a sitewide ban.

Callie, not that I know much at all about Facebook's ins and outs but I did take a look and there are privacy settings. Perhaps you can adjust them to keep him at bay. Sorry I can't be more help.

It's fine. I reported him for hurtful messages and unwanted contact so now they don't let him contact me at all. The one thing that bugs me the most though, he's got like ten million accoiunts. I just want him to leave me alone!

He will eventually. Listen, back to your original question. This new article at my place may help. It covers how to deal with writing about people you know. Hope that helps!

Should I Disguise Characters in My Book Or Memoir?
