Unless you live under a rock you would have heard the news about the follow up to The Da Vinci Code being released. Are you a fan of Dan Brown and will you be buying the book?

Barnes and Noble are discounting it already from $29.97 to $17.97 which I didn't expect. When I checked Amazon, I was amazed to see they had cut the price by 46% to $16.17. Since when does an author who sells millions of books have their book's list price slashed on launch day?

I can hardly believe that either! I would imagine it's because the struggling economy is hitting them too. Bookstores will need to fight for their piece of the pie, the same as any other industry.

I read that the first print run for this was going to be 5 million copies. That's a drop in the ocean compared to the eventual sales of the Da Vinci Code. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it sold in the region of 80 million copies. I've never read it but I liked the movie. :)
Has anyone read this yet? I'd like to hear what you thought of it. Barnes & Noble's got it at $9.99 now, and Amazon is at $12.25. Walmart's a penny lower at $12.24.
