wow, Callie, I was exactly the same when I was small, I hated books I hated writing, my hand writing was at such a terrible level that I couldn't even read it. I still write bad though, give me a break, I'm still in grade nine!!! I guess the writing world is unpredictable, and will accept anyone, even.......me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I had a series of unconventional "New York stories" (in quotes because such a thing is probably cliched at this point) unfold in my life. They flowed together like a narrative. I decided to write them as a book, which then snowballed into an entirely different project, which I did eventually publish.

I'm still here because I have one more thing to say. That's my next book. Then I'm done. I mean I can write more books but it will be purely for fun and exercise at that point. The "need to say this" drive will die back I think.

I write to explain the Scriptures. That is my goal. I want Christians to come to a more mature understanding of God's Word. Many Scriptures have been abused. I desire to correct those abuses.

I write for my own children actually. My husband is military and deployed quite often, my children and I were going through such a difficult time, and I ran a non-profit organization for military children who's parents were deployed. My oldest son suffered Asperger's Syndrome, Anxiety, and depression due to the constant deployments, so we all decided to sit down and talk about our feelings. My children love to draw, so we started to use "characters" as expressions for our emotions and that's when "Robby the C-130" (www.robbythec130.com) was born. We wrote a book and before you know it, the book helped my own children as well as the children in my organization to open up and start discussing their emotions more. It became the door opener to many other areas in a military child's life and we have been writing ever since. The writing allows me to stay connected with my own children as well as express my own emotions to the stresses of daily military life.

I've always loved writing.  Making up stories. My love of books helped too.  At fist It guess I was writing fan fiction. Just short little stories. Then school projects. Then my own.  I had a dream of publishing a book some day.  And I did it!

Also, sometimes it's hard to find the perfect book to read, and I found this quote that I love:

"If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." ~Toni Morrison

Good for you! Determination. that is what it takes. I just sold my first copy of two of my books. God bless you in your efforts.
