Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
Im kind of in a rush here, but i havent written a discussion in a while lol
so yeah, off the top of my head at the moment, especially since no one truly asked it.
My favorite as a child, was R.L.Stine.
simply because he wrote ALLLLL those goosbumps series. i adored every book as a child, and i admired the way he would end each chapter with some type of anticipation and suspence.
i loved how he did so.
My favorite author in middle school and still today, is Darren shan. for creating that mind twisting saga that completley brought my head into a daze of Vampires, destiny and bafflement. Cirque du freak! lol LOVE THAT BOOK SERIES SO OOOO MUCH! lol I truly respect how HE created his own spawn of vampires for the better, not like that glitter crap known as twilight. anyway, if u havent read all 12 books do so! and PLEASE do not watch the movie, it was absolutly disappointing.
I also LOVe edgar allen Poe.
psh because he's Edgar allen poe Duh!
the man is a ghastly disturbing geNIUS! LOL
GOTTA GO! SPEAK TO ME! TELL ME !!!
i wanna know!!! LOL
wHO IS your FAVORITE AUTHOR????

Lol, I love your choices, Betty! Those are all very good authors, but my favorites are a bit different. My absolute favorite author is and always will be Margaret Mitchell. She wrote Gone With the Wind, and I admire her because of the way she writes! When I was reading that book, I could feel the connection that characters had with each other and the passion and hatred between some and the love and care between others!
Another USED TO BE Caroline Keene- the known author of the Nancy Drew series. I loved how each book was written so perfectly to where you could always understand everything that was going on. Of course, that changed when I found out that Caroline Keene is not a real person, but a pseudonym for at least 12 different ghost writers that wrote those books.
My only other favorite so far is Vivian Vande Velde. I LOVE her books! She has this unique writing style that tells everything from a rather uncommon point of view. I don't know much about her, but I'm guessing she either grew up in or lives in Rochester, NY because a lot of her books take place there :) Actually, I think you might like her too, Betty. My favorite book by her is a Rumplestiltskin book. She says how she didn't understand the story and writes six 'better' versions :)
ahh....i recongnize he name. Vivian, i know i read one of her books. a vampire one forgot the title though...lol
Thanks for writing! ;)
I never read gone with the wind. is it THAT good?
lol i never liked mysteries. lol so i was never a fan of nancy drew.

Speaking of Edgar Allan Poe, Amazon has free downloads of all his works for the Kindle. I don't have one but I use the free Kindle for PC software to download and read the free ebooks on my computer. (You'll see a link for that in the right hand sidebar. It says Get Kindle for PC.)
This is the link to Volume 1. There's 5, I think.
The Works of Edgar Allan Poe - Volume 1 [Kindle Edition]
http://www.amazon.com/Works-Edgar-Allan-Poe-ebook/dp/B002RKRW5M/
And this is a link to their current top 100 free ebooks. It's updated hourly. I think I have about 50 saved now to be read, and Edgar Allan Poe is among them. I've never read anything but The Raven.

Favorite author...I can't give up my fondness for Stephen King's older stuff.

I have no clue what you meant there LOL. A pc = a computer. All you do is install it then click one button to download the free ebooks. No matter. :) Anyhoo, I shall check out the Black Cat first when I get round to reading that ebook. Thanks for the tip!

Well I'm glad you do go on, Betty! :) PC is short for personal computer. It refers to any personal computer. I download the Kindle books too like that and read them on my computer. I won't buy a Kindle for another year probably, only when the price drops far more.
If you're ever stuck for ideas on what to read, this list at Project Gutenberg could help. Several of the books are available free at their site because they are now public domain.
In 2002, the editors of The Norwegian Book Clubs asked 100 authors to nominate ten books that, in their opinion, are the ten best and most central works in world literature. This list was reprinted in The Guardian in 2002. Here's the list.

thats what makes a good writer,
never running out of ideas.
keeping in touch with her fans by never letting them wait for the next release. lol
If i ever do see the book Ill read it, or try. lol when i was young i tried to read Harry potter, just to fall asleep in the first chapter.
hopefully I could read this one. lol

Lol, well, I think it is, but then again, I sort of have a few different styles than most people. I don't think it would be one you would enjoy based on what I already know about you, lol, but I like it. You could try reading it, but I have to admit that it was rather boring in a few chapters, and really hard to read, because it went a bit slow :) But, since I'm one of the most stubborn readers ever, I forced myself to keep reading! Lol :) And I may have read the book you're talking about by Vivian. I don't really know, I mean, she writes a whole lot of books! But hey, all the more for us to read, right? :)
