Please find hereafter the beginning of a science-fiction novel I am working on. I would be thankful for any comment you could make.
Have a nice day.
Planet Mhorion, solar system Andrakor, 1st Intergalactic Ring.
Standing on the edge of the only hill on this planet, Kihona Lorinhar was contemplating the jungle that stretched before her eyes.
As far as she could see, reaching the horizon in all directions, a sea of green covered the ground. Trees in shades of green, blue, but also of red and purple created a beautiful and soft carpet. It was so attractive you would have dived with pleasure in it.
Kihona never had been tired of this wonderful scenery. Above the trees, she could see the birds - they were just simple patches of color from where she was - emerging from the green mass to plunge back in it after some aerial pirouettes.
Hidden under the trees, an exuberant life Kihona knew by heart. Emitting shrill cries of joy, rowdy monkeys were playing in branches and lianas, birds were crossing the landscape like multicolored flashes. Tapirs and anteaters wandered quietly. Tigers, jaguars and pumas were hiding among bushes and giant flowers to watch their prey. Millions of insects filled the air with a continuous buzz.
Above this vegetal ocean, blue sky, warm atmosphere. Here and there in the distance, gray areas of clouds: they reported that there was rain over there at the moment. Precipitations of the planet Mhorion were of great violence. Kihona could remember of storms which, in less than twenty minutes, transformed the forest into a vast swamp; for days there was just muddy water all around reaching sometimes the first branches of the trees.
In the sky of Mhorion, a hot sun was bathing the jungle with its generous rays.
In space, at a relatively low altitude, were moving points. They were barely visible to the naked eye. Kihona knew perfectly well that they were spaceships circling the planet. Mhorion was under siege, war was knocking on its doors!
There were thousands of destruction machines, of all sizes, all types. All ships were armed to the teeth, able to destroy entire planets. These death machines stood under the orders of Kihona’s worst enemy. An enemy who had pursued her for many years across the whole universe. He had crossed galaxies; he had traveled incredible distances - billions of light years - looking for her.
Finally, he held her: on Mhorion, Kihona was trapped! It was pointless to try to hide in the jungle. Escape from the planet into space without being caught - or without being directly shot - was also unthinkable. Kihona was at the mercy of her pursuer.
In the sky, explosions and flashes of light gave evidence of the bombs and of the laser-cannon shots the enemy was continuously firing towards the planet. Fortunately, Mhorion was protected by an invincible force wall: despite their incredible destruction power, all the projectiles could not pass through the unseen barrier completely surrounding the planet. Up there, Kihona’s enemy and his army could strive to destroy her as hard as they wanted: she was safe! Alas, not for long...
The top of the hill where Kihona stood was a broad platform of small grass, with little flowers and fragrant shrubs. With the soft wind blowing and softening the sunlight, this place would have been very pleasant in other circumstances.
Sinister and paradoxical in the abundant vegetation surrounding it, a fantastic black cylinder over two hundred meters in diameter stood in the center of the plateau where Kihona was.
Perfectly smooth all along its thirty meters height, the monument had some dark niches. These were cavities, larger or smaller, cut in the mass. They showed no regular form: it was as if very powerful bombs once had dug holes in the monument by their explosions.
That was enough to impress or worry anyone, but Kihona knew perfectly that strange building and she knew she had nothing to fear.
One last time, Kihona allowed herself to contemplate the incredible forest at her feet. Her gaze moved closer; it climbed up the steep and stony trail which led from the jungle to the platform.
The adventuress then turned and walked over to the colossal black cylinder. She went to a place in the wall where numbers were written in bright red letters. ‘907 364’ could read Kihona as she came close. And that figure was dropping steadily: a unit every second, it was a countdown.
It meant the counter was going down by 3,600 units every hour. A mental calculation told Kihona that it would reach '0' in about ten days.
AllForces said that the wall of force around Mhorion would fall at that very precise moment. It was AllForces who had so chosen whatever the consequences. This meant that, within ten days, the powerful protection of the planet would no longer exist. In ten days, Kihona would be given up to her enemies!
And the final battle could then begin. The result of this confrontation seemed certain: in front of thousands of spaceships, Kihona had of course no chance of winning. Her two faithful companions were also on the planet, the wonders they were capable of would not be sufficient to tip the balance.
However Kihona had one hope to survive: this planet was that of AllForces. Her enemy wouldn’t dare to bomb the jungle, would he? AllForces would definitely not let such an affront unpunished, and everyone knew that He had a near-infinite power: He had the ability to destroy all the spaceships in a split second if He wanted!
The adventuress took a moment to look forward to even better: maybe her pursuers would be afraid to set foot on AllForces’ planet to hunt her like a common rabbit?
Kihona had devoted her life to fight for the good, even if she was accused to be evil. With all her strength, she had acted to prevent and to stop the war that was consuming the entire universe. She spoke of peace: to politicians, journalists, soldiers, and to all kind of people. Too few people had understood her. Too few were those wanting to stop all the violence ravaging the world. And - on the contrary - too numerous were the men and women seeing the war as indispensable.
How could the people hate each other? How could people hate to the point of killing each other? Kihona still did not understand that, but it was the reality that she had known for too long.
If she was to die within ten days, then Kihona wanted to leave a record of her life: perhaps her example could inspire other supporters of universal brotherhood?
Ten days were enough to tell all her adventures.
Kihona approached even closer to the dark wall of the large cylinder. With a quick hand gesture, she made a small red light appear a few meters above her.
AllForces was listening, He would keep her record. And no power in the universe could prevent Him to rebroadcast it to all men throughout galaxies when He deems it useful!
She began her story:
