Helping Verbs
What do you guys feel about helping verbs? Was, were and so on...Can they be over used? Yes!!! But what can be used other than them? I sometimes read books that seem like there are fragment sentencing. Is that because the helping verbs are taken out. I would like to hear what you guys use or don't...

Helping verbs are sometimes necessary. Too many can burden your tale with too much description. Allow your reader to fill in some blanks. After all, the 'movie' of your book is playing in their heads. Do, however, make sure your sentences are not jerky without them.
