That's truely the hazard about editing your own work, you end up memorizing it rather than reading it.

I belong to a critqueing group and we meet faithfully every Wednesday night rain or shine. We are ten committed writers which I find invaluable.

Lyn, that would be so nice. I envy you.

I agree with Anna. However, I did my own editing and yes, no doult memorized it. My book was 142K and an editor suggested to edit 50K words out, which I did. At this time I have been looking for an agent, but no go yet. I think after the new year, I'll start sending it to publishers. Although, agents say they are looking for new talent, I haven't found any yet...

Lyn, I also belong to the a writer's group, (Rice Creek Writer's). We meet once a month. It would be nice to meet more. What we do is bring copies of our work and pass them out and critique each other's work, by voice or pen. Anna, perhas you could start a group...

That would be nice, but it would need to be a virtual group. One of the drawbacks of living in the wilderness of Alaska. I do have a small group on Goodreads but so far there is no participation of this sort. At this point, it has turned into a collection of good writer's advice I've found around the web since I got internet.

Hey guys, I'm checking in! How are we all? I have finally finished the first draft of my Redcliffe sequel so I am happy. Now I have to get on with editing 2 novels before I send them off to publishers.

It does feel good to achieve a marker, whatever the marker may be. Good luck Catherine.
