I write mostly fiction romance novels with  true to life storylines. I joined author's.com soome while ago. My question is how do you get questions in here answered. A couple days ago I posed a question; I usually do my manuscripts in Microsoft word I have 2007 and was thinking of upgrading to the 2010 version. My dad found a writing software for Authors and I wanted a few opnions on what other Authors thought about it. But not one person replied. So then I got to thinking this website was supposed to be created for us to help one anaother and talk but how is it helpful if no one replies to your questions!

I use Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac. I generally get an email for every post in groups I am a member of here and I don't recall getting that one. Things have been really hectic for me this week though. Sorry I missed it. I really don't know anything about the 2010 version. What is this other software. I've heard of a few things but I don't use anything other than Word. I guess it kinda depends on what kind of writer you are, you know, how you like to put information together.

Thank you for answering me back. I will put the link for that other software my dad found and you can tell me what you think about it. When you get time. I didnt post my question in a particular group, I put it in the forum it wasnt until i put it in a group that I got an answer. I thought I would try the trial version of 2010 and what I saw I really liked it was easy to use but I dont want to dump a whole lot of money into something if there is something out there better for less. You know what I mean?

I looked up Microsoft Word 2010 and if you're already using a Word program, I don't see much reason to upgrade. If you've done updates, what you have should be enough. Are you looking for something specifically designed for authors or writing books? I know there are programs out there some writers like that help them organize thoughts and sequences, help them with structure of their story. Sorry, I don't remember what it's called. Are you having trouble with what you have?

Hi Anna,

No I'm not having trouble with the writing part of it. It just flows out of me. The trouble is with word 2007. Sometimes it wont let me into it to continue my book. My dad thought it might be because the softwareis five years old and that I should upgrade to the newer version. sometimes some of the newer computers some of the templetes become outdated with the newer technology and they arent compatiable anymore. I did try a free trial of the word 2010 and I didnt have as much trouble.
