Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
Hello again everyone,
As a child, like most of us, every Christmas my mother would sit myself and my brother and sister down and read us "The Night Before Christmas" as I am sure millions of parents do, anyway I remeber how great it would be to write something that people could read and relate to a particular occassion or time of year. So once I started writing again, I came up with a poem especially for Halloween, I know it is not as big as Christmas, but it is a fun time for many people, and the wonder and awe for a child is just as appealing.
Here is my halloween peom, I hope you like it, and once again all, honest comments are always welcome.
No face too round, no body too fat,
It’s the time of year to fear a black cat
For ghosts and goblins lurk in the dark
Ready to jump out and give you a start.
Fancy dress parties; and music too loud
We hover together amongst the crowd
Trick or treaters go from door to door
Doing dastardly deeds as never before.
We dress up funny and go into the street
Looking to find others there we’ll meet
With costumes, lanterns and brooms all around
Then from the dark comes a terrifying sound
From the distance we hear a deafening scream
Like those in a movie or in a bad dream
Werewolves and witches and things that go boo
Are out in the darkness looking for you
It’s the one night of year they come out to play
If you should see one, you had better run away
For danger lurks in every nook and cranny
And the witch on the corner is not your granny
Bad things happen on old hallows eve
And evil plans begin to hatch and weave
For tonight’s the night where evil runs wild
And horror stories are relayed to a child

I like this, for one it brings back memories, second it brings back childhood and third it brings imagination at the child's level, never easy to catch. It is well written and captivating, thank you for that Donna
Great poem!!! Great rhythm. The last segment, did you mean (hallow's) eve...
