Look outside – there

the sun is shining

Now look inside – here

an orange and gray clock

is functioning

But are its colors

symbolic?

Does one reference

an outside brightness of life

wherein those

who have no concern

for matters creative

are in pursuit of

good times today?

And does the other

acknowledge the struggle

of artists

who toil within

a constricting view

of all they

have and haven’t done

And is the clock

as a unification of colors

perhaps not often

seen together

attempting to acquire

a reliance in the discretion

of he or she

who now writes about it?

And is the clock

worried

that an artist

may someday portray it

in colors somewhat

more controversial

such as black and white?

And at this time

because it’s now

a written about

“poetic timepiece”

does it consider

itself colorful?

Or has a sense of sadness

derived from its fear

that many view poetry

as “colorless”

led to its

lack of synchronization?
