Stand again…

Fallen in a world of suffering
on the piece of earth where the sun seldom shines
children search for a moment of stillness
in the shadows of the fleeing present
hoping to witness one small miracle
from youth to the elderly

Each step taken allows us closer to that
which we so often fear
sometimes the steps are small
but to try, yes to try is far greater than
disappearing into the murky swamps
laid upon us by empty faces

Days will rise and nights will tumble
but it is what we do between those times
when the struggle for survival is near
and the fight in the warrior is weak
dry the tears for the promises made

will rejoice in tomorrow’s contributions
