Thank you Kay Elizabeth for welcoming me.

My interest is true crime and missing girls of the 1950's. I am one of several researchers involved with Silvia Pettem and her book, Someone Daughter, A Search of Justice for Jane Doe in which we were able to help identify not only her murderer but to locate her family with matching DNA.

My own story is about missing ten-year old Connie Smith who walked away from summer camp in 1952 never to be found, her story is linked to the found remains of Little Miss X found in 1954, misplaced for more than 40 years yet recently discovered and are now being tested for DNA match to at least three missing women of that time.

True crime stories are fascinating. What interesting work you do and congratulations on such an achievement! It must take an emotional toll too. How do you not get emotionally involved with a case or do you let that happen?

I can't think of anything more tragic than for a child's remains to be finally recovered and no one knowing who she is. Thank goodness for DNA testing nowadays. When are the results expected in for those 1954 remains, any idea? My heart goes out to those three families waiting.

This was a cold case of over 50 years and since we did not know of the family, it was more of a informational hunt. Not having direct contact with the family myself, who's DNA matched the Jane Doe, I could keep my emotional distant. I was very happy that "we" solved the mystery, it a bittersweet ending to the families search. I have to say that while we did a lot of Internet searching it was the website of Boulder Jane Doe that brought one member of the family to find the answer to her family tragic story.

We're on to the next one, a missing young girl from California who disappeared with her boyfriend in 1958. Her remains may have been located in AZ in the fall of 1958 but the boyfriend's remains may have just been located this year. We will not know until the DNA results are returned. Meanwhile it is still a search of information. And of course there is the Connie Smith case, a ten year old girl who walked away from summer camp, never to be seen again. What happened is anyone guess.
