I wake up, at no particular set time, and make my way to the bathroom for the morning (or maybe early afternoon) duties.
I look in the mirror, steamed over from a skin-reddening hot shower. Like any of us, I sometimes ask, "Do I like what I see?"
"Sure." The answer is usually, "Sure, I'm fine with that." Most of the time, the thoughts do not travel much beyond that point.
Today, they did. Today, the wet smear of my handprint revealed a face I did not recognize in that dubious…

I thought once I completed the story of Set Free that I would move on to something else. I discovered I was wrong. With An Amish Home, I really enjoy going back to Karsten Field. The first story is available for $0.99 at this link - http://goo.gl/oc82v…

Independent presses have a lot to offer today's aspiring authors. The slush pile is smaller and the chance for an unknown, untried author to get a contract is greater. Unlike large publishing houses, there's still very personal interaction between editors and writers. Unlike self-pubbed books, the publishing house takes care of cover art, lay-out, printing and distribution. Authors are nurtured and a bond builds between the author and…

Doug Lucas, author of The Flats Teacher's Test, is my guest today with a post about why he wrote a book that one reviewer called "an explosive story...crossing the boundaries...behind the doors of the educational system". To all my teacher friends and parents, this may be worth your time.
The Flats Teacher's Test is ONLY $4.99 for Kindle (or FREE for Prime users) and you can get it here - …

(« Wilesco D36 steamroller » by Morn)
« Steamroller » is the fourth chapter of « Juggernaut. » In the storyline of the suite, it represents the apex of pain, and the metanoia.
The instrumental is one of the most busy pieces of music that I’ve written up to now, and…

How to Make a Return on a Non-Refundable Product
Buyer’s Remorse is a retail store’s nightmare. In fact, we downright hate it. But you really can’t blame us since we’re in the business of selling product, not loaning it for an unspecified amount of time. Still, customers returning product is something we have to deal with.
We try and make it easy by posting our Return Policy all over the store at work stations and the front counter, but nobody…

With the forthcoming release of my latest book, Alpha, I know one of the popular interview questions will be: “How did you ever come to write this story?” Another will be: “But wasn't your first book entitled Beta? Why the reverse titles?”
Allow me to answer the first part of the second question. No, my first book was entitled Night Shadows. However, in the Mallory Petersen series, Beta was released before Alpha and this is the story behind the story.
This…

For the past few weeks, whenever I had the chance, I've been working on a book trailer for my mystery novel, Mixed Messages, and I've finally completed it.
I'd never done a trailer before and, let me tell you, creating it was both frustrating and fun. I can laugh now when I think about how many times my computer locked up, just as I…

I’m part of a generation who had to actually wait at home by the phone if I was expecting a call. Worse than that, if I sent a query to an agent, I had to wait weeks, even months, for a response by snail-mail. What torture. If I had been a nail biter back then, I’d have worked my way to my knuckles in not time.
