The Redcliffe Novels: Writing a Trilogy

I am currently writing the third book in my Redcliffe novels paranormal romance series. Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel) concludes the story of how our protagonist Jessica Stone met and fell in love with a vampire, and subsequently discovered the truth about her friends and acquaintances in the fictional Cornish seaside town of Redcliffe. I originally only intended to write one book with this story, but it just sort of spiralled and took on a life of its own, so now here I…

Olivia Strikes Again

That's right. Episode 3 is here. Like I said before, Olivia has such a great voice as an author. As I encourage her to explore and develop it, it might take a little longer to get these stories done. With her imagination and charm, I think it is worth the wait.

Julius Thompson New Video Blog Series!

For the first time in my life, I’m stepping out on a limb and putting myself out there in a video. In fact, it is a video blog.

       Nervous!

You bet, but I feel this is the next step in the evolution of the marketing of my books: A Brownstone in Brooklyn, Philly Style and Philly Profile, Ghost of Atlanta and Purple…

For My Daughter

I think about my daughter now. She is sweet and innocent. She loves her daddy. I am the man in her life.

Then I think about ten years from now (fifteen, if I get my way). She will most likely have a new man in her life. She will be thinking about romance and marriage.

That's what was on my mind as I wrote the latest volume of my Amish Journey. I will admit that I had to move away from the keyboard for a while. I couldn't see what I was typing through the tears. So, I…

A copy of my latest blog rant.

Today is one of reflection. I decided to be myself not some pushy salesman because ultimately I am a writer. so what the heck am I writing for. The last four months has been a whirlwind of activity, sell, sell, sell and reach sales targets, figures etc etc. Then I remembered why I had done this in the first place. I have always written since I was a kid. I write because I enjoy it and because I write what I want to read. I have two fantasies I have been writing for years. Writing for publishing… Continue

look into my eyes

look into my eyes can you see my pain,

would you my devil friend condem me again,

when you see the sweat drip from my brow,

do you laugh and say "we are even now!"

when i come in tired from the lashes of the sun,

do you smerk and say "know now I have won",

look at me me devil friend,

this is just the begining and not the end,

with every lash i grow stronger,

your snide looks effect me no longer,

fear me because of my…

When Do You Edit

Katherine Hinkson, a writer friend, and I both agree editing is probably the worst tribulation about writing a manuscript. Certainly, it is the most tedious and frustrating. One of the reasons is because we are constantly finding mistakes, even after the third, fifteenth, and fiftieth read through. Then, when the publisher’s editor(s) get a hold of it, they’re finding even more. Plus, they’re coming back and mentioning not just the fundamental errors (grammar, spelling, punctuation), they’re…

The Last

Jake laid in the wetness of the grass, breathing unbelievebly hard his vision blurry. Kale was dead, Mareen's missing, Laura's dead and Sam just went missing!

he calmed himself down to a steady breathing pace, his…

Making Long Paragraphs Work

Paragraph quality is not determined by its length, long or short. Rather, quality is determined by how well the paragraph communicates a single idea. Long paragraphs, however, can be difficult simply because they are long.

The following 2 strategies will help you write long paragraphs that work.

Day 137: Use topic chains to create cohesive…
