In researching for Western Historical Novels, I've run across some strange historical facts. I thought I'd share a few of them here, and illustrate how some showed up in my romance novels.
Frank James quoted Shakespeare, and he and brother Jesse liked to have their pictures made. In Images In Scarlet, they kidnap Allie Caine to take those photos.
If you think the Civil War actually ended when Lee surrendered, then it’s back to the books. The final battle took place out west at…

A late post this week because I was off to Black Belt Camp on Thursday.
Once again, I must admit I didn't write the basic points to this blog. I did, however write the details under each point. This blog is credited to author Will Lavender, who I met at the 2012 Killer Nashville conference. He presented this seminar on plot fundamentals.
I enjoyed this seminar even though I'm a…

Praise The Lord!
I only Want
I only want what God gives me,
Then He will bless it,
Then God will multiply it,
If necessary resurrec it,
Defend and confirm it,
Terrify enemies who try to block it,
Crush all who suppress, and contest it,
And then,
Let me prevail because He is for this
blessing that…

“Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.”
At first I thought this was a little insensitive to the dead person's surviving family. Do the grandsons really need to read about grandma getting run over by a reindeer? Then I thought: lighten up, these truths are supposed be light-hearted fun.
With the last truth I discussed how much detail to put into a…

The long forgotten disease once again strikes the world and this time round, it’s more dangerous than ever and more selective than ever. It only strikes during winter which has forced massive migrations to non-winter areas of Africa and some of the safe parts of the Arab world.
Several universities around the world and the best medical professors, scientists, philosophers, and others have…

It seems every time I click on a discussion online from authors, all I see is moaning and groaning that all this media socializing we're encouraged to do doesn't produce sales. Authors point out that we seem to be “preaching to the choir.” Where are the readers we need to target?
My question…

I was asked recently if we are continuously evolving with knowledge we gain, or can we reach a capacity in our efforts to learn more. The person asking actually answered their own question by stating that they believed we are capable of infinite ideas and concepts.
Going by a definition of capacity that fits here, which is the power of receiving impressions, knowledge, etc.; mental ability, I believe we all have different levels of knowledge and some of us have different levels of…
