Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
I like to wake and see one of the stories I did the cover of charting on Amazon. In this case it is Amazon UK in the Kindle area. Darren Sant slammed headfirst into two categories already only after a day of release:
#8,793 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#52 in Books > Crime, Thrillers & Mystery > Short Stories
#100 in Kindle Store > Books > Fiction > Short Stories
Now really how can you enjoy a series revolving around a thief that is a heroin addict? I mean really all the guy cares about is himself right? They don’t come any worse right? Wrong! Darren Sant has an edge and a gift with the written word. He is a total smarta#$ and provides a narrative that is very refreshing and easy to read. His main character is certainly rough around the edges, totally self-centered, egotistical, and self –absorbed but he turns it into a social commentary of sorts that is not offensive, not political, not polarizing, but matter of fact down to earth stuff. Learning about the inhabitants of “The Longcroft Estate” is going to be fun and I for one am going to keep up with each installment. Put Darren Sant on your reading list, it is a no brainer and a great read.
Here is the synopsis:
“ Housing estates, council estates or "schemes" as the Scots refer to them are places where you can find a broad cross section of society. They are the salt of the earth folk. People who will cross the street to help a friend, a neighbour and even a stranger. These folk know the true meaning of the word community, to them it is not just a politician’s buzz word but a way of life. This is what happens when you have thousands of people living in close proximity. These are places where everyone knows everyone else’s business. However, in every barrel there are a few bad apples and the same applies to our estates.
The Longcroft tales is a series of short stories that deals with those folk that live on the margins within these communities. The drug dealers, addicts, football hooligans, the bent coppers and the misguided. Not always bad people sometimes just down-at-heel or unlucky. As the series progresses I hope to give you a full colour high definition vision of the Longcroft estate and it's many and varied denizens. There will be laughter, tears, highs and lows.
I hope you enjoy my tales. The first story, A Good Day, deals with a drug addict who finds himself with a decision to make. Does he commit a selfless act or take advantage of a lucrative opportunity? Why do flash cars keep parking outside? Why are the new neighbours so quiet”
