I was asked recently if we are continuously evolving with knowledge we gain, or can we reach a capacity in our efforts to learn more. The person asking actually answered their own question by stating that they believed we are capable of infinite ideas and concepts.
Going by a definition of capacity that fits here, which is the power of receiving impressions, knowledge, etc.; mental ability, I believe we all have different levels of knowledge and some of us have different levels of mental ability to comprehend what we learn.
On the other hand, science is beginning to find that the unconscious mind, not to be confused with the subconscious mind, is perhaps more powerful than we currently know. Maybe it’s there that the seeds for greater knowledge and understanding are planted and can grow. The growth part, however, is where people can get stuck. They either don’t feel a need to grow, or they think they’ve achieved enough growth in their life already.
For me, growth has been and will continue to be a part of my life. By attaching meaning to the different things I experience, both what we call good and bad, I am able to understand both myself and my life better. I am also able to help others who are trying to grow.
I’m not certain if everyone is capable of infinite ideas and concepts, but I do know when we try to grow both spiritually and as a person that no matter how faltering our attempts are at times, it is how we can evolve and become a better person than we were before.
Even in times of worry and fear, I know as long as I don’t give up that eventually things will be all right, and I will too. It is this knowledge that has helped me the most in my life. I know I have a greater capacity to be well emotionally today than I did before, and that perhaps there are no limits to how happy I can be as long as I’m willing to continue to grow.
