Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
Imagine being in the University-having slept early only to be woken up by that annoying alarm-that is to rouse your room mate, who's snoring like she lives in a world without sound!
Just when I thought my day wouldn't get crazier-I had to do laundry because the Hostel caretatkers-play around with the taps, so we get water once or twice a week!
Then...I read an interview that was conducted years back-of my favorite writer: Chinua Achebe.
His take on the writing life: "Writers need commitment-it is the one thing that sees them through their work, in fact what use would writing be if one did not commit to saying something? The creation of a character alone takes time-patience, understanding and most of all listening-to know how to present a character with integrity."
I almost bit my tongue.
I was complaining about my writing.
I don't have the time-I am doing a research project-life is crazy, I have classes and community service, but my favorite author had to say only one word and shut me up!
Commitment.
I need to commit and I am- I started my third book-hope this time a real publisher would suit me.
