Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
The stories just keep coming fast and furious. I have been fortunate to be able to tap into a pool of amazing and talented authors that have a true enthusiasm for their craft. These men and women are in my estimation just incredible authors and people. Basically they are taking a blogger, me, and risking a chance of really being embarrassed as I may drag them to my level and consequently produce some really rotten stuff. What has happened though is nothing short of brilliance. Thomas White’s go around with me is shear genius. For those of you that have lost track already, keep up with me here people, the first two are:
Down Low-Dead- Vincent Zandri, one of the hottest and most downloaded authors on the planet right now, and myself: http://www.amazon.com/Down-Low-Dead-Authors-Collaboration-ebook/dp/...
And then there is the zombie / comedy with the irrepressible Big Daddy Abel and myself “The Jersey Shore Has Eyes”: http://www.amazon.com/Jersey-Shore-Authors-Collaboration-ebook/dp/B...
Now each of the above has gotten 18 reviews each, all of them are 5 star reviews except 3 in total between the two that are four star reviews. That has to tell you something there. These authors are bringing their A game or they are bringing nothing at all. The plan for this now, just to give some insight into what the madness is behind the method , is for me to take each one of these authors and shake them up, get them out of their comfort zone, make them think a little more about their plotline, their narrative, their prose. I am starting to get comments like, ”Where does one author begin and end?”, “Who is writing what part?”. I will take that as a compliment. These stories are not about one upmanship, who can outdo who. That would not be a contest in my eyes; I think I would lose every time. No we are doing something I think is much harder: sticking to a game plan and putting in enough twists and turns within 5,000 to 6,000 words as we can to entertain you the reader. I think to date we have not only done that, but exceeded it. The other point I want to make is that even though I am working with different authors, in each digital short story I am trying to weave a consistent group of characters throughout the story lines. Yes, for those of you that have read “Down Low-Dead” and enjoyed that amazing character Vincent Zandri came up with Harry Ballipshitz or “Harry Balls” as he is known, makes many appearances in a variety of stories. He is even central to G.S.I.; you will get a healthy does on him here in this story.
What is on the horizon for the Author’s Lab/Collaborations? We have a number of stories in various stages of completion:
“Who Whacked The Blogger?” with Benjamin Sobieck. The character he created in this story is so good, so strong, he will be spinning him off into his own series. Great stuff; that is part of the spirit of this.
“Give Us Your Living…Now!” with H.R. Toye. This is not funny at all,oh no,no,no. This is straight up horror from beginning to end.
“Hotel Beaumont” with B.R. Stateham. Your basic hard boiled action, mayhem and death.
“Thad and the G-Man’s Most Awesome Adventure” with Thad Brown. Slapstick, action, tongue in cheek fun that will make you laugh out loud. Your basic incredible bang for your buck type thing.
Beyond that I am beginning to work with a new and exciting group of authors as they want to expand on what we have built already and take it to the next level. Basically the authors are having too much fun; they want to do it more. They are talking to their buddies and now I will be tackling genres I never thought I would be in: romance, paranormal, sci-fi, oh baby this is wild. So I would say look out once every two weeks to upload one of these intense, fun and totally condensed downloads of fun the likes of which I believe have not been seen in modern fiction. Please support these authors’ efforts;, look for one of these once a week or every other week. If you want to email me, I will make the list a bit bigger than it is now, and I will give you a heads up before they go live on your favorite website. Here is my email: gelati.giovanni@gmail.com
I almost forgot to drop in a synopsis of the digital short story, here it is:
“The Author’s Lab/ Collaboration strikes again with Thomas White, author of the award winning “Justice Rules” full length novel, and Giovanni “The G-Man” Gelati, blogger (Gelati’s Scoop) and blogtalk radio host (The G-ZONE). This new dynamic duo of fun and mayhem have put together a hard-boiled farce that is sure to not just tickle your funny bone but almost make you drop your ereader. Strap yourself in for some quick, hard hitting fun, slapstick and hard-boiled action as only these two can.
Tom began his career as an actor, which lead to a two-year stint in Tucson, Arizona at the University of Arizona and a degree from the United States International University School of Performing arts in San Diego. A C** Laude graduate, Tom was also named to "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.”
He immediately hit the road and spent several seasons touring across the country with various shows, working as an actor, tech director, stage manager, scenic designer, lighting designer, sound designer and finally a director.
Several years later Tom found himself as an Artistic Director for a theatre in Los Angeles and the winner of several Drama-Logue and Critics’ awards for directing.
While working in Los Angeles, making a living in live theatre, Tom started a small side business offering voice over talent to the television and film industry. Consequently, he can be heard, although never seen, almost nightly on one of the major networks.
As Tom's career grew he ended up doing bigger and bigger projects in the theatre world. In 1990 he directed and co-produced the world tour of "The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coming Out Of Our Shells". The show toured for over two years, was translated into seven different languages and seen by close to a million children. Tom directed two videos based on the show and found another venue to stretch his creative bent.
Consequently, Tom opened a video production house and currently directs, writes and produces corporate videos. In addition, he specializes in directing live corporate events. In the last few years Tom has worked several major events such as the Harley Davidson 95th Anniversary, the IBM Golden Circle and the Microsoft Annual Sales meeting. He also served as the creative director/producer for the Saturn Homecoming held on 200 acres in front of the Saturn main plant in Spring Hill, Tenn.
In addition to his passion for writing, Tom is working on an original musical. He wrote the script and will direct the show. Freddy Curci, an award winning musician famous for his two number one hits, "More Than Words Can Say" and "When I'm With You" is writing the music and his wife, Lara Cody is writing the lyrics.
Tom splits time between Los Angeles and Spokane, WA where he lives with his wonderful wife, Kathleen, a neurosurgical nurse practitioner and his two daughters, Claire, a junior at University of Redlands and Kaelan, a senior in high school.
Tom is a life- long San Diego Charger fan.
