Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
Good evening to those most likely very few readers out there of my first online blog!
Let me start by introducing myself: My given name is Collette Heather Martin (although I dabble in the art of Burlesque of which my stage name is Lette Von Lush)
I suppose now I should talk about how I have loved reading and writing ever since I was young, when truthfully, I hated reading when I was a child. No matter how hard I tried (which, looking back, was most likely not that hard at all) I could not grasp the concept of words, sentences and the like. It was only until I became an outcast in late primary school I started to appreciate these people and their lives simply made up of words. I was amazed I'd never loved it sooner. I was alone for most of my high school days with acquaintances rather than friends, and the occasionally bully, but they never really seemed to bother me as I almost always had my nose in a book, and they did not often pick on the "Goth Nerds", I'm glad to say that in my last year there were a few of us, and we were quite close for a time. Eventually I escaped with my minimum available grades of Low B's and average C's and D's, ironically I had the flu on the day of my English literature exam which was the only one I was actually looking forward to. I proceeded to college, nothing exactly life impacting, I was a little disappointed to find I spent 3 years acting, singing and dancing only to realise the atmosphere was exactly like high school. However, I did find my click: a group of friends from different backgrounds all the outcasts of there own medium. We worked well in a team and never left each other behind. But, as you can imagine, we grew up, moved on. Some left Manchester entirely, some stayed (I was one of the latter). I fell in love with one of my misfit friends and we started living together. Good times and bad, we had them, our more than fair share of them in the 6 years we have been together, but the result was a beautiful baby boy who is now the tender and frankly demanding age of two, but I wouldn't change a thing. I've written several short stories and poems, even a few songs in the past until now.
In literally the last few days I have finished a book: a fictional story with a supernatural genre and sub-genres of romance, action and crime. Maybe this is a concoction that should not have been explored by a new writer but I was glad of the challenge. If it is terrible then all I can say is that I fell in love with my characters and tried to share them with the world, but if the world does not want to know then I feel blessed to have these characters all to myself and create new ones that the world will love.
Thank you for listening to me ramble.
