Looking for a good zombie/horror story to have burned into your brain? Look no further, download this undead tale and enjoy. Mark Cooper steps up to the plate and puts his mark on zombies in a big way in “Infection”. Vivid images of rotting flesh, decomposing bodies, and limbless creatures wandering around aimlessly are the norm in the story. Sounds like fun doesn’t it? It is, really, in a very deep, zombie kind of way. I have to warn you though; the images he creates are very stark, very surreal, and often disturbing. I think Mark Cooper will take those as compliments; he just seems like that kind of guy.

To be serious though, just for a moment, I do not want the writing skills of the author to be put aside by my puns. He is able to achieve all that I listed above in this story because he has executed a very precise plotline; he has crafted a very good narrative, even though it is told through his zombies. I enjoyed the fact that he was able to convey his ideas and concepts to me through the undead, through wordless, mindless creatures; it made the read all that much more amazing. I am not a huge fan of this genre; I like it on occasion, but I can take this quality of writing on a daily basis no matter what the genre. “Infection” is an infectious read, get the fever.

Oh, yeah, the synopsis, here you go:

“The end has arrived and the dead now walk, hungry for flesh.

Standing on the brink of apocalypse, reluctant leader Daniel Holt finds himself thrust into a situation that is not only not of his choosing but also oddly familiar. Disparate groups of people find themselves having to work together in order to survive – however, they soon realise that their worst enemy may actually lie within rather than in the unyielding hordes of the undead gathering right outside their impromptu sanctuary. Infection chronicles the outbreak of a very British zombie holocaust.
