Julia Madeleine has agreed to do a monthly series with Trestle Press called “The Devils’ Music”. Here is what the storyline will be:
“It’s about a beautiful, dangerous woman named Sadie who is actually the devil’s daughter. She has an insatiable appetite for music, and in particular, musicians. Her thing is to go around collecting the souls of all the great legends in the world, after they've signed a contract with her in blood of course, guaranteeing their success in exchange for their soul. The first story is set in Mississippi in the 1930s. Life in the Delta's dingy juke joints is exploding with the blues. One night she calls in the debt on one particular blues musician who's contract has expired, “The King of the Delta Blues Singers” himself. She gets him drunk on bourbon to ease the suffering that will come upon him after she poisons him. She's a compassionate devil, only doing her job. And she loves all musicians and wants them all to herself forever.”
How the series will work is the character of Sadie is travelling to different time periods, collecting the souls of all the great musicians, using a variety of methods to off them. Some go willingly, some not so much. I'd like the theme to be dark, chilling, with perhaps a touch of humour for relief.”
Here is a bit on the author:
“Julia Madeleine is the youngest daughter of Irish immigrant parents from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Born in Canada and raised in a small town in south western Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron, Julia honed her dual passions for art and fiction writing from the time she was old enough to hold a crayon. As a teenager she moved to Toronto and graduated in Media Writing from Sheridan College. She wrote for a number of entertainment magazines, while spending all her free time writing fiction, and then in 2000, her passion for art led her, quite by accident, into a career in the tattoo industry.
Home for Julia is Mississauga, where she lives with her husband and teenaged (future tattoo artist) daughter. For a year she lived in the country on a 30-acre property in the middle of nowhere, which became the inspiration for her latest novel, No One To Hear You Scream.
Look for the first installment to be released very soon.
