Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

Hello, all!

I just signed on with a small traditional publisher for my second novel, working title Bread and Circuses,a psychological suspense/crime fiction novel, and am in the beginning stages of line-by-line editing.

Has anyone out there signed with small traditional houses and, if so, what were your contracts like?  Any advances, what percentage of sales goes to you, did you have to sign a right of first refusal and offer to sign your next work with your publisher? Has anyone had to buy their way out of a second contract if a bigger, better publisher or agent comes along?  If so, how was that?

Thanks.  Keep on writing and reading!

I was just about to comment because I just signed with a small publisher. Since this is dated July 2012, I guess my only comment can be a question. How was your experience? I signed with one in April. How long did your line-to-line editing take. I am waiting for mine to be returned.
