A very interesting thing happened on the way to getting this novella sized work published: we could not get a consensus on the cover art. What do I mean by that? The story goes like this: I made two covers for Robert Ford to select from, and he liked both of them; he really couldn’t decide. The decision was made to put them up on our social networks and see what you the people thought about them, maybe something would shake out. Nothing did but great comments. It was split 50% to 50% after we received well over a hundred comments. We made the decision then that we would use both. Yes , we are using both covers. The how of it is fun and hopefully you enjoy it. We have just published the story using the white cover art with the flaming heart in the eye on Amazon Kindle and the flaming heart on the macadam road on Barnes & Noble Nook. In a few weeks we are going to switch them, and see how the sales go, to see if either cover garners more interest on both platforms.
Now to the story itself, another in The World of Hek Series ; it rocks. Who is Hek? Why he is a very good looking, well dressed devil. He likes to play games with people, granting their wishes, but not just doing that, he makes them “better”. That is his way of messing with your head, giving you what you “asked for” but not really in the way you intended. Trying to beat Hek at his own game is very difficult. Robert Ford has created a universe around Hek that is both entertaining and engrossing; the reads are fast, furious, and at times farcical. I couldn’t come up with another f word in that last sentence, if you can, just inject it for me, thanks. This is not the only work by Robert Ford; he is starting to gather some titles under his belt( Hek:Savior, The Curse of The Translucent Monster) , each one is as good as the other; they read well, and there is not a bad apple in the bunch. For me as a fan and a reader of his work, Robert Ford just keeps getting better and better with each new piece I am fortunate enough to get to read.
Here is a good thing to remember: If you purchase any of Robert Ford’s stories produced by Trestle press before month’s end they are buy one get one free. Just email or message Robert Ford or me and we will be happy to take care of you; we look forward to it. Here is the synopsis of “Love Stories”:
“It was just three simple, innocent wishes. Stephanie Taggart was down on her luck and about to lose her house and she wished for more money. Her son was about to get engaged but she didn’t feel he was quite ready so she wished he would lose his girlfriend. She also wished that her daughter could realize what a loser she was dating. She only wanted what was best for her loving family, not to cause any harm.
Stephanie had no idea the recourse of such an action. Of course, she had no idea that the man she made those wishes to was the demon Hek, granter of wishes with an evil twist.
Hek, the villain of The World of Hek, Book One: Forever, The World of Hek, Book Two: Savior, and The World of Hek: Fall of Grace is always looking for a new victim to toy with. In The World of Hek: Love Stories he has chosen a family of three. What could happen to this family when Mom’s wishes are granted? Only Hek knows.
The World of Hek: Love Stories by Robert Ford brings back such Hek favorites as Slicer, the owner of The Broken Bottle Bar, and Daryll Eddington, the evil businessman from Savior”
