Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
Q1: Thanks for participating in our Authors.com Spotlight Interview series Kathy! Please introduce yourself and your book to help our readers get to know you.
A:Thanks for the interview. My name is Kathy Yvette Trivette, and I am a new author. The title of my book is "Freddie Frog's Great Wisdom" which just came out in November of 2011. I wrote it to help children make good choices and to help them when they are faced with a problem.
Q2: Please explain how you came to be a writer, what inspired you to write your book(s) and how long it took.
A:I have written in a dairy and journals as far back as I can remember. I have also written short stories that never were published. I see children every day that are being bullied, called names, and going through problems that life throws at them. I want to make a difference in their lives. I will be happy if my book can help one child. I think God inspired me to write my book. I try to put God and family first in my life. It took about a year total to write my book. I had other obligations that came first.
Q3: What did you enjoy most about creating this book?
A. I enjoyed creating the characters in my book the most. I wanted my book to be different. Most of the characters have the same first and last name ending with the same letters and the type of animals they are. For example, Frankie Fox and Howie Hippo are to of the characters in the book.
Q4: What facets of your life, both personal and professional, are woven into your book, if any?
A. Some of the stories resembles my life growing up in Kentucky. Also, I took some of the events from my own children as they were growing up.
Q5. How did you get published?
A. I looked up most of the publishers on the internet. I had PublishAmerica publish my book.
Q6: Did you have any surprises or hiccups along the way during the book writing and/or publishing process?
A. I didn't get to write as much as I wanted to.
Q7: What one thing did you wish you'd known before you started this project?
A. I wish I had known how many publishers that are out there.
Q8: You're a fly on the wall when readers are discussing your book. What would you hope to hear them say about it?
A. I hope they would say that my book is well written, and that my book could help a child who is going through some tough issues.
Q9: Tell us one thing about you that most people don't know or would surprise them.
A. I work in retail, and in my spare time I make unique pillows for children and adults.
Q10: What single piece of advice would you give new authors?
A. I would tell them to never give up on their dream.
Q11: Share a short summary of a typical day in your life with us please.
A. I get up and go to work. When I get home I cook and clean like everyone else. I work on writing or coming up with ideas about my next book. Then I spend time with family and friends. I go to church on Sunday mornings.
Q12: Describe where you do most of your writing. What would I see if I was sitting beside you?
A. I do my writing at my desk in a separate room. I do my writing in there so I can concentrate. You would see my desk, tons of books, and my computer if you were sitting beside me. You would also see pictures of angels and my family. There would be my notes on my desk for my next book.
Q13: What's your motto or favorite quote you like to live by?
A. "Never let the opinions of others get you down. It is what you know about yourself that matters most." That quote came from my book. Another one is "I use to complain about having no shoes. Until I met a man who had no feet." This quote did not come from my book.
Q14: Is there anything else you'd like to share with us in closing such as your website, an imminent book launch or what you're working on presently?
A. My book is on PublishAmerica.com. You can also find my book listed on Amazon.com and Barnes & Nobel.com. I am planning a book signing and reading soon. I am presently working on my next book about Christmas.
