Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

Q1: Thanks for participating in our Authors.com Spotlight Interview series Latricia! Please introduce yourself and your book to help our readers get to know you.

A.  I am Latricia Chandler; my book is The Mystical Vampire. I live with my husband and two children. I love writing, drawing, and spending time with my family.

Q2: Please explain how you came to be a writer, what inspired you to write your book(s) and how long it took.
A: I came to be a writer through a friend, she told me that I had a good imagination but I put it off until my husband found my writing poems. The thing that inspired me to write books was the satisfaction to share my thoughts and imagination with others. It took me six years off and on to write The Mystical Vampire and the about four more years to have the nerve to publish it.

Q3: What did you enjoy most about creating this book?
A. The thing I enjoyed the most about this book was the research.

Q4: What facts of your life, both personal and professional, are  woven into your book, if any?
A. Well the fact of my life that was woven into this book was personal, the character Leena becomes a Forensic Expert and that was my childhood dream when I was seven.

Q5. How did you get published?

A. Well, I started off working with Author House and it didn’t work out so, I decided to go off on my own with Create Space. I self- published work through CreateSpace.

Q6: Did you have any surprises or hiccups along the way during the book writing and/or publishing process?
A. I had some hiccups. I never knew marketing and promoting a book was harder than writing one.

Q7: What one thing did you wish you'd known before you started this project?
A. I wished I knew more about the writing as a business so I could have been wiser on whom I let publish my work.

Q8: You're a fly on the wall when readers are discussing your book.   What would you hope to hear them say about it?
A. I would hope to hear them say the truth about it, I believe that the more honest readers are the easier an author can grow in their work.

Q9: Tell us one thing about you that most people don't know or would surprise them.

A. I am a very shy person when it comes to talking about how I am.

Q10: What single piece of advice would you give new authors?
A. Don’t rush your writing, let your creativity flow through you. When it comes to publishing ask questions about the business: some authors would love to help you out on information. And don’t give up, an author told me that if you love what you do you will enjoy doing it. Writing isn’t just about the money, that is just a bonus.

Q11: Share a short summary of a typical day in your life with us please.
A. Sorry I don’t have one right offhand, my days varies a lot.

Q12:  Describe where you do most of your writing. What would I see if I was sitting beside you?
A. Me in my chair in the living room writing in my notebook.

Q13: What's your motto or favorite quote you like to live by?

A. when you start something that you love “Keep on Keeping on” a quote from my godfather.

Q14: Is there anything else you'd like to share with us in closing such as your website, an imminent book launch or what you're working on presently?
A. My website is www.darkpassionsbooks.com and latriciachandler.blogspot.com

My book was launched in January. I am currently working on my second novel Homicidal Desire which I am hoping to launch this summer.
