Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
Once in a while I think I find a gem, something maybe some people have seen, but really hasn’t found the audience it deserves yet. “The Lost Queen” is one of those works. It as a YA novel, is part of The Empyrical Tales series, and it is fun , innovative and flat out well written. Yeah how do I really feel about it huh? Here is what is between the covers on this:
“Zandria and Olena continue their adventures in the land of Empyrean. Zandria discovers a magical crystal that may be the clue to finding their mother, who has been missing the past six years. Zandria and some new friends set out on a quest to recover the other crystals. The wicked Carnivale Chaotica ringleader, Raymond Shaydaway, wants the crystals for his own evil ends and will stop at nothing to take them from Zandria. Now Zandria must solve the mystery of the Lost Queen if she has any hope of finding her mother.”
The engine on this vehicle is the narrative and voice Mark Miller infuses into the work. The guy just has that certain something, that gift for putting together great characters with a conscience, with a set of values that are real, visceral and tangible. If my younger daughters are going to read something, I wish every novel they consume was constructed in this manner, with such high standards. Miller has crafted a great series in The Empyrical tales; the universe he has created is fun to read about, and I almost felt I was a part of it.
In the future for Mark Miller: He is the lead author of a new digital short story being released this week called, ”A Prince in Trenton, Seriously?” . It is part of The Author’s Lab/Collaboration series and is another first for the series. The story is an all ages work; it can be read by a person of any age and can be read to the little ones. I am very proud to say all that and to have had the pleasure and honor to follow Mark through the whole thing. Not only was this a blast to do, but it felt pretty cool trying to be a part of the new universe Mark Miller created. Look for its release at wee’ks end.
