What books are worth reading more than once?

I don't often reread books. When I do, it's because they made some kind of deep impression on me first time around. What books would you suggest as being a good read many times over?

Good question scribbler! When I'm in the mood for reflection, I never tire of Marianne Williamson's Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles". Every time I read this I absorb something new that I missed before.

That is a good question! I love to read and re-read Austen novels, and then read them some more... I think for me they are books that mean something different to me each time I read them. Another book that I read over and over is called Deafening (Francis Itani) Amazing book, but each time I read it I realised I missed something really obvious last time!

I will probably be tarred and feathered for saying this. I've never read any Jane Austen. I want novels set in the recent past or present and occasionally future or alternate societies. I'm reading a Dystopian one right now actually. Historical novels leave me cold and yet I can enjoy factual history books. I just can't get into historical fiction. Don't ask me why! :)

No angry mob Kay :-) But you have just now given me another goal in life... to persuade you why you have to read the Austen novels! :-P lol. See I don't feel that I'm reading an historical novel when I'm reading Austen (apart from Mansfield Park with her marrying her cousin obviously). Although I think that is probably because I am so busy getting lost in the language that I don't pay much attention to anything else!
