Yeah, then you have awesome experience, and an open choice if you ever get fired! Not that you could get fired from being a writer- I mean, who would have that power? You could get dumped by your publisher, but still, they couldn't make you not write anymore! :)

Someone could just get bored from writing, though I don't see how they could.

I know, lol, I mean you could maybe get bored with writing if you're some religious freak who ends up thinking that life is pointless and you have nothing to do in life except join a monastary! Then maybe, just maybe you might get bored with writing, but even then, it's hightly unlikely! :)

Writing as a hobbie is nothing compared to writing as a passion.

i wanted to take pictures of the world,show people that the world can be funny,
but my father said i was a dreamer and doing that makes no money,
then i wanted to be a preacher,and tell everyone about my King,
"joe" my father said "only poverty it will bring."
writing is within my blood,poetry is my song,
no matter what my father says this will never be gone.
so i do my job at work do what needs to be done,
then at home i open my journels and do what i call "fun" :)

I grew up around music. I had my first phonograph at the age of six, with a collection of Walt Disney songs. Music has been in my life since that time. First, I was a listener. My father always cooked breakfast Sunday mornings before we went to Mass. Part of the ritual was a stack of records (first 78's then the LP's at 33 1/3). The content could be anything from Tommy Dorsey to Nat King Cole. I found that I was intrigued by the vocals, but totally captivated by the big band arrangements. I was seven years old at the time.

In 1964 (yes, I am THAT old), the British Invasion began with the Beatles, the Stones, Gerry and the Pacemakers and several other prominent rock bands. Like all other children of that age, we were captivated with the music and the culture that came with it.

Four years later, my parents took me to a concert for my birthday that literally changed my life. The singer had already been around for over twenty years and was still popular. He'd agreed to bankroll a big band for his roommate during his tenure with the Dorsey band and to tour with the band to guarantee a packed venue. The singer was Frank Sinatra and the roommate was Buddy Rich.

I started playing the drums when I was eight years old and by the age of twelve I was giving lessons to older kids. I had a rock band in elementary school with a few friends and we would play several times a month after classes, so I thought that I knew it all.

Sinatra came out and sang the first set with his band and his usual drummer Irv Cottler. After a brief intermission, Sinatra came back out and introduced Buddy Rich. I remember sitting spellbound for over an hour, not only from the dynamics of the band, but trying to comprehend what I was seeing. I've always enjoyed performing but had never seen anything even close to what I witnessing. While I still enjoyed listening to rock music, from that day I only wanted to play big band jazz.

I was fortunate enough to see Buddy in concert over thirty times and had met him on several occasions. I still play and teach and still enjoy playing big band arrangements. I'm listening to his "West Side Story Medley" as I write. One of my most prized possessions is an autographed program dated 11/25/86, the second to last concert he ever played.
