You can always try Agent Query.  This free service has been around for years and is recommended by Writer's Digest as one of the Best Websites for Writers.

You can use the Quick Agent Search on the left. Select just a genre if you're unsure what keywords to use. Make use of the Search Tips before beginning and you'll get better results.

The agent profiles your search returns will give more details including whether they accept email queries. Good luck!

Since we've a nice bunch of new members arrive and some have talked about looking for an agent, it's a good time to highlight this thread again. :)
I think it is too! Especially since most of us are now reaching farther into our careers!

I'll back up that statement too. You see Agent Query recommended on all the good writing sites as a place to begin looking. It can be trusted as a reliable source.
Thanks scribbler! There's also more places you can look. Evan Marshall wrote an excellent article explaining how to find an agent and sharing more resources.

I am almost to the point of completing the first draft of my third adventure. I will be looking for an agent this time, so your information here will b very useful. Thanks everyone! Though I have had a publisher connect me directly wanting ore information...

I guess my question is.... is it best to have an agent and/or a good publisher? Both?
An agent will help you find a good publisher and more importantly get you the best deal. At times like that you need an experienced professional to make sure you get the right compensation package and to negotiate what rights you're selling them. Knowledge is absolutely power on that score.

Thank you Marti. That site is new to me too. It's so handy having them all in one place like that.
