Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers
Hi,
I was wondering how do you tell when the marketing company you chose is a good one. After my first book was published and I was about to have my second book published. I got a call from a marketing company that told me that they could help boost my sales from 1.2 a percent on up with their help. They said they could guarentee an increase. I live on a fixed budget so money is something i take very seriously.
Before I made a deal I did check them out. I went into the Better Business Bureau to see what kind of rating they had if they did. I also did a search and at the time they checked out fine then a couple days aftermy website and email campaing went out I started to see their company name come up for being not a good place to go for marketing.
And it seems just like all the rest of the other authors they didnt help me with any increase in my sales. In fact I didn't see one book sale that didn't come from my own marketing. It seems I wasted a ton of money on a company that promised me sales and got nothing in return.
How do you get your book out there and not waste your money in the process. What is the best Marketing stragety. Also how do you get people to review your books. Most of the people that have read my books tell me the book was really good and that they would recommend it to all their friends and family. And that they cannot wait until the next one comes out. But they wont do a book review for it.
If anyone has any suggestion I will gladly take your advice!!

Hi Mandy,
I am a very sceptical person when it comes to publishing and marketing, but I hear from authors on this site and facebook that Createaspace(an Amazon company) are pretty good. However If you send me a link to your book I will review it and give honest and contructive feedback. I, as an author would never charge another writer for a review or proof read, the more writers there are there the better the world will be. I will gladly review your book and post it on as many sites as I can (pending approval from you of course).
Keep writing,
best regards
SR
Thanks for the advice Anna.
I also promote everyday on Facebook,Twitter local newspapers, radio stations and on here. I didn't know about LinkedIn and I don't have a Google + account I might have to check into those places. Thanks again

There are book bloggers all over the place more than happy to post reviews for your book. You should be willing to give them a copy, but first you should send them a query.
They are lots easier to convince than any agent. It's good that you did your homework, but for the most part, if someone contacts you and wants your money - stay away. Selling your book is never easy; all you can do is keep it visible everywhere you can think of and talk about it to anyone who might listen.
I advertise every day on Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Facebook. I've even posted my links here as appropriate.
