Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

At my school, my fifth grade teacher told the class to look for poems on her recommended poetry sites. My friend Chandler was not following directions and went on the web and on this site and found my cousin Kenny Thurman. I just thought that it would be cool to be on a site where you can write your own poetry. When I got home from school, I stored this site on my electronic organizer and went on it and BAM!!!! I am here.
Now that I am in the middle of a move, it is difficult to remember how I came upon this site. Considering I had been following links concerning Indie publishers, I probably came across you through an article that began with links on Writer's Digest or Publisher's Weekly. Following links is my downfall. It can consume hours of my time. Fortunately, it always turns up treasures like this one.
and write, Deirdrie. We have many good authors here. Welcome.

hey, great to be aboard! i found authors.com by looking for books by one of my favorite authors, of course i found nothing, but this great website. Now i can talk to people just like me who like to read.
I actually work in online community management, and found Authors.com when I did a google search for readers and writers online communities. I used to manage the community for R&W at iVillage and have missed talking about books and authors since it went defunct several years ago. I've been so busy up until now *working* online that I haven't had much time to participate -- hoping to change that now :).

Well, for me, I'm a new author. I am self-published, which means I have no real support behind me, other than my own efforts. It also means I have to stumble in the dark, trying to find my way. I'm sure I'm not the only one finding this process, sometimes frustrating. So I started looking around for a site like this, where other authors congregate. Being a self-published author is a pretty lonely way to go, so it's always less lonely to find others in the same boat with you.
Hi Stanley,
How are you doing? Yes indeed it can be lonely. How are you developing your network and client list (fan base)?
What kind of stuff are you writing?
Best Wishes,
Geoff
